Emilia and Subaru Unite in New Re:ZERO Season 3 Key Visual

Emilia and Subaru Unite in New Re:ZERO Season 3 Key Visual

The staff for the third season of Re:ZERO includes:

  • Director: Masahiro Shinohara
  • Script supervisor: Tappei Nagatsuki
  • Series composition: Masahiro Yokotani
  • Character Design, Chief Animation Director: Haruka Sagawa
  • Monster Design: Keitarou Chiba

Anime Corner recently interviewed Director Masahiro Shinohara and Character Designer Haruka Sagawaka, along with Yusuke Kobayashi, who voices Subaru. The staff attended Anime Expo 2024, where the first episode had its world premiere. Shinohara and Sagawaka are joining the staff for the first time in these roles.

The anime premiered in 2016, while the second began airing in 2020. Re:Zero also has two movies, titled Starting Life in Another World – Memory Snow (2018) and Frozen Bonds (2019). The third season’s synopsis is as follows:

A year has passed since the liberation of “The sanctuary”, where Subaru Natsuki defeated Elsa and fulfilled his contract with Beatrice in the battle against the Great Rabbits.
Emilia camp was united as they faced the royal election, and Subaru Natsuki was living a fulfilling life, but the peace and quiet came to an end with a single letter delivered by a messenger.
The letter was from Anastasia, one of the candidates for the royal selection, to invite Emilia to the Watergate City of Priestella, one of the five largest cities in Lugunica.
Accepting the invitation, Subaru and his party set off for Priestella, where a variety of reunions awaited them.
One unexpected, one unintended, and one to come.
The stirrings of malice writhing beneath the surface of the water and an unprecedented crisis loom over them.
Once again, the boy faces a cruel fate.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuk and illustrated by Shin’ichiro Otsuka. A manga adaptation with art by Haruno Atori is also currently ongoing.

Re:ZERO premiere was among the leaked anime titles earlier this week. The leak came from Japan Expo 2024, where a screening by Crunchyroll was scheduled to be held. Crunchyroll is investigating the source of the leak.
